Jumper
My brother and I watched "Jumper" all the way through the other day. And lemme tell you, that Hayden Christensen is a dynamic powerhouse of an actor. His delivery is just this side of douchey high school jock with delusions of grandeur but no social skills. Especially when he follows a line delivery up with a…
Hey Miller, guess what we watched in Earth Science.
I'll never tire of Ms. Lohan and family's idiocy. Seriously, I know it is shallow and stupid, but damn if schadenfreude isn't a helluva drug.
Will Ferrel's shtick seems to be his whole "I'm a grown man doing really naive, crazy or immature things." It plays well things like Elf (a holiday favorite in our house), Step Brothers, Anchorman and Old School. But does get tired and repetitive as quickly as it came off as funny in stuff like Semi Pro, Blades of…
I got, like, minute and a half into it. That man infuriates me on so many goddamn levels.
Worst Performances (I'm talking laughably bad, here, people)
Nic Cage-The Wicker Man
Hayden Christenson- Jumper
Jon Travolta- Battlefield Earth
Tobey Macguire-Spiderman 3
Now why'd you have to go and sully this thread with that link, Bentley? I know it was in jest, but c'mon, I want to have nice dreams when I turn in for the night.
Matt Damon could do a thick Boston accent in his sleep, though.
Let me add Jon Heder as Napoleon Dynamite to that list as well.
You know what, Switters, I'll trade you Sam Rockwell's performance in Hitchhiker's for Alan Rickman's.
I'll second that, Raindog. I kind of wrote Ledger off as a go as a pretty guy affable hunk type thanks to 10 Things I Hate About You and A Knights Tale at first. But beneath that, there was a lot of talent. Shame he's gone now.
Really, though, my favorite scenes in The Departed were the bit parts with Alec Baldwin. The whole movie is a blast, though.
I'm a little iffy about Uma's performance in those movies. It wasn't like there was a whole lot to her character. Not that she didn't do a good job, it wasn't terribly complex. David Carradine and Michael Madsen did some good work in those though, I'll say.
My favorite Comedic performances of the Decade
Robert Downey Jr. as Kirk Lazarus/Hot LZ Tropic Thunder
Steve Carrel as Andy Stitzer in the 40 Year Old Virgin
Gene Hackman as Royal Tennenbaum in the Royal Tennebaums
John C. Reilly as Dale Dobak in Step Brothers
Parker Posey as Meg Swan in Best in Show
That was my first thought when I read the title of the feature. However, I have only seen a few of these movies, and Brokeback isn't one of them, so I'll give these all a fair shake.
Marry me, Trash. We'll make it work.
I ended up watching the 1952 Spencer Tracy crap-fest Plymouth "Adventure" on Turner Classic Movies with my grandma.
Michael.
Frank, I think the best way to describe those exec's reaction was
