Here's Boomer sounds so similar to The Littlest Hobo that I can't help but cringe at the fact that two of those shows existed, possibly simultaneously. Never seen the former, but the latter was a frequent viewing in my childhood days and boy has it not aged well…

I believe that's accurate, I think I even remember seeing a shooting script posted online for the episode that featured that subplot. So either we're both suffering from the exact same hallucination or it's correct.

Indeed, and having it pointed out that the rhythm section is kinda replicating "Paid in Full" makes it even better.

I think part of it is that we've been conditioned to expect that the 'I only told X!' would continue on for a few more iterations until it got tiresome or circled back to being kinda funny again. To have it stop dead in its tracks at person number 3 subverts the expectation and catches us off guard.

Honestly, I was prepared to hate the episode on that fact alone, but I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at how decent it was compared to the expected 'THEY DON'T BELIEVE IN MEDICINE!!! OUR HEROES WILL SHOW THEM THE WAY!!!!' bullshit. It wasn't great or anything - still too speechy and manipulative for that…
