If you'd gone with 'DubnobasswithmyhHeadman' you'd have earned points from me/other Canadian 90s alt-rock geeks for whatever that's worth.

GET ON WITH IT MOTHERF—-
"Rock Star" is the only song that I hate even more if I try to view it as satire.
Hot
Fuck you Nabin, "Hot" is the best Lavigne single from this era and I won't hear any different.
On the bright side we get to come back to "Waiting in the Wings" and "Dead Things" which if they aren't the highlights of their respective seasons are pretty close to it.
What's the difference between a baby and a trampoline?
Why Canada's broadcast standards are great: They allowed Mullholland Drive to air uncut at 8 pm on a Saturday night. Beat that, anyone.
Honestly, I prefer Jack Ingram's version. Even though it's still a piece of shit song that version at least has some nice subtle organ riffing and a less Nickelbacky vocal.
Oh no, you can't fly, Nancy! Only British people can fly!
I'll step in to defend Live a bit. Basically, if you ignore two things Throwing Copper could pass for a decent album. Of course those two things are 1. the singles, particularly "Lightning Crashes" which is probably the worst thing to come out of the 90s alt-rock afterbirth, and 2. Ed Kowalczyk's Messiah Complex. "Controversial Pavement opinion: Crooked Rain, Crooked rain is their worst. "
On the whole yes, but "Santeria" is a legit tune.
"The Bleeding Heart Show" as group number would win me over no matter the context. And maybe a rotating duet on "The Laws Have Changed".
"Whiskey Lullaby"
Seriously, no mention of "Whiskey Lullaby"? Not even "Mud on the Tires"? Seriously, those are two of the best radio country songs of the 00s right there…damn shame they couldn't get singled out.
Song of Susannah gets a bum rap imo. Easily the best of the final three and maybe the most concise thing he's written since The Gunslinger. Plus the Cronenberg-ian body horror shit he goes into at the diner is wrong in all the right ways.
I'll accept that description if only because it's the most ridiculously consistent album that whole scene put forth.
I think Mellon COllie could work as a consistently good double album if you did some liberal swapping out with Aeroplane Flies High tracks.
Guyville is perfectly pleasant as far as I'm concerned. Nothing amazing but nothing overly annoting either. That said, I do think my jaw dropped the first time I listened to "Flower" but the music had nothing to do with it.
Both fall victim to Butch Vig's terrible production, but I'd actually give the edge to Nevermind. Probably comes down to the simple math of less guitar tracks being recorded = less guitar tracks being fucked up by a shitty producer.
I'm enjoying it too, but I'm baffled as to why you would choose something as unbelievably egregious as that Rodney Atkins song to give the column it's country edge. Seriously guys, "Stuck Like Glue" is RIGHT FUCKING THERE.
