Something about Mac cutting his hand and how he reacted felt much more real and visceral to me than most "blood oath" scenes in TV/Movies. Usually I just sit there and chuckle at how the characters barely even wince, but I made an audible sound of disgust and agony when Mac did it. Both times.
Amy Ryan is so good that she was one of my favorite parts of Birdman, and she was in it for like two scenes.
That Prince segment really got me laughing. In regards to Kid Cudi, I think it would have been great to show a hint of what musical styles he might bring to the show, but I realize that might not have been possible at the time. At the very least he made me laugh more than groan.
