Animated, perhaps. I think that makeup or even CGI mutations on live actors would turn it into a horror movie, which I think would miss the point entirely. Similarly, I was thoroughly disappointed with the way Ghost World turned out…it should have at least been filmed in the same muted black/blue/white of the book.

Peter Laughner is the dead one.  Though not a Dead Boy.

What the "eff" is the story with Disqus?  So many things to like here and though I click and click, not a like will stick.

Thanks for posting this…can't hardly wait to hear it.

Wasn't it hard to keep it lit?

No, syphilis.

Pricey? Yes. Any other fucking choice but to buy NEW PIXIES MATERIAL in 2013?  Nope.

Haven't heard a note, but I just bought it anyway.  10" vinyl, people!

They played an edited version of the film as an intro for the band during the Pixies' Doolittle reunion tour, and when they showed to part with the dude feeling up his mom or whatever, I shouted "YEAHHH!!!" thinking the rest of the crowd would do the same, 'cause, you know, boobs.  They didn't, and I thus got some

We're the Replacements.

Adrienne Barbeau's Breasts is the name of my new softcore band.

Solid.

Agreed.  As I recall (and I haven't put it on in a loooong time) RFTC was released right in the depths of the CD "loudness war" and I nearly shit myself at the opening bars of "Eye On You".  They attributed it to "24 bit mastering" or some such nonsense but it was just…too…loud.  Still had hooks galore but the

Hope it was vinyl.  Thatsa ton of cabbage to pay for a goddamn CD.  But you were right to make the score either way.  My fave album of theirs by far, and I have them all.

That's mine, too.  Apropos.

Weird, I had just resumed the slow perusal of my copy of The Art of Daniel Clowes, Modern Cartoonist last night.  I'm by no means a comics guy, but I love Clowes' work and I'm grateful to Fantagraphics for taking a chance (or two) on him early on in his career.

How about an all-girl band fronted by the great granddaughter of etiquette maven Emily Post?

Calculus II would be a great name for a post-mathcore band.

Standards is indeed a fine intro, though I made a case for TNT above (below?) as well.  I hope would that anyone that enjoys the jazzier side of Tortoise has also checked out Isotope 217.  The Unstable Molecule is one of my stone faves of all time and I'm glad I saw them live (opening for Tortoise, 1998) before they

Bitch Magnet's Ben Hur has been a longtime fave of mine, though I'm not certain that it would be an excellent introduction to post rock per se.  As for Tortoise, TNT is not quite as knotty as some of their earlier stuff, what with melodic lines Ten Day Interval and Jetty, two of my favorite songs by any group.
