Yeah, the major story beats are mostly the same and predictable, but it's more the sci-fi heavy WAY it was told I found original. Like the fact that the main character was actually a human inhabiting an alien body, and would literally alternate between different realities, and how it showed the toll of that on him

That would have been a nice bit of self-awareness on FG's part about the obvious decline in the show. And would have actually been funny to boot!

Can't forget "Great Space Roaster"! Also "Hurricane" and "Poltergasm" are great ones…and I have a major soft spot for "Family Affair" as well. This season had another great one too in in "Vision: Impossible", which despite Roger being the center was pretty family heavy as well.

Yes, I know far too much about this show. But whatever, it's just that good and it's a shame more people here don't care about it.

Yes, indeed again. That episode is absolutely just flawless…not only fantastic character work (definitely a Francine showcase but also the episode that actually gave a necessary reason for Roger to be the way he is), but excellent plotting, and just about every joke hits it out of the park. It also has two fantastic

Yes, I love that subplot. That was really one of the first instances of Roger as he'd be for the rest of the series; scheming, self-centered, and cruel (but almost in a way that sounds like he's being nice). Maybe his revenge plot against Steve for stealing his cookie is the only earlier example. His lines in "Tears

Community's a classic but even it was thoroughly meh this season (which also happens to be the end of the series).

Yeah, I'm sure this has been said countless times, but giving "The Office" (Classic) reviews grades has always struck as ridiculously silly and just an all around bad idea. Wasn't the idea of taking away the grades for various classic coverages (like The Simpsons and Seinfeld) because, well, these series are classics

Started watching some old AD tonight myself. Started with a fairly random choice; season 2's "Iced, Iced Babies" but that's always been a favorite of mine. It's a brilliant Francine episode and performance (and cemented how great both the character Francine and Wendy Schaal herself are to me, to me), the return

American Dad seriously has the best fucking music, particularly in these last three seasons. Everything from "Hot Water" is fantastic, last year we got both Boyz12 AND The Majestic, and now this year we've gotten the excellent selection from Minstrel Krampus (seriously, Charles Bradley straight KILLS IT) and yet

Um no, not while a little show called American Dad exists. The quality of writing in AD is just operating on a completely different level than any other Seth cartoon.

But I felt that Brian got fleshed out fairly well in the original run, and with some true emotion to back his developments. The stuff about how he became a Griffin, his deep seated love for Lois that had traumatic effect on his life, finding out about his mother in "Road to Rhode Island", and his connection with Pearl

Ha. Well, to me, American Dad has already declined a bit. It's peak seasons for me were 2-6 (this in relation to considering the current season 9, not 10) although I love season 1 too and think it's underrated also. Season 7, while still good and boasting many great episodes - in fact some of the best, like "Virtual

I really loved the Late Night arc, and that and "News Years Eve" really salvaged the season for me. Well maybe salvage is a strong word, as there were good episodes before, but to be honest all that Louies girlfriend shit and then the episodes that kept following up on it, just not that interesting, imo.

All family episodes are certainly standouts, as they give the whole cast time to shine and bounce of each other, giving the show a really great dynamic.

How about "Iced, Iced Babies". She straight up plants cocaine in Steves locker to get him expelled so they can spend more time. Then the end…holy shit that is easily the most devious Francine scene ever, as an evil smile slowly grows across her face after she tells Steve no girl will ever love her like mommy.

Yeah, Dr. Penguin is pretty much the only recurring persona, along with Legman from the Wheels And the Legman running bit. But also you'll see him where repeat costumes from time to time, like his jogging costume's the same, seen in both "Family Affair" and "Twill Ongenbone". There's a few other other examples of that

There can never be enough, so here's another;

I KNOW MIKE, CAUSE I'M NOT AN IDIOT.

In the season 5 episode "Merlot Down Dirty Shame", after Roger drunkenly kisses Franny and he's trying to get that ugly ass bartender who's into Roger to kiss Stan so they'll be even. Stan gets weirded out by Roger trying to get them to kiss and says he's going to the bathroom, Roger then delivers the line (somewhat
