You forgot about the random shootings.

Ah, so that explains The Selfish Gene.

I've mostly much stopped listening to new music myself. But I did catch a few new artists that I like:

Speaking as someone who's visited the United States and Malaysia… there's not such a huge difference, honestly. Except that people speak Malaysian. And they're mostly Muslim. And the beaches are nicer.

I'm occasionally an actor and I live in Asia. Can I be in your film? It's not in Malaysian, is it? I guess I can learn my lines phonetically….

Travel far forward in time, buy all the DVDs of all the shows (oh, and comics too), travel back to 3 or 4 years ago, change your name, get a job as a pop culture writer, get caught writing about some future thing that hasn't come out yet, get fired from The AV Club.

My resolution is to read more, as I have a ridiculously huge "to read" pile that gets bigger every month, and includes a couple of behemoths like Infinite Jest and Gravity's Rainbow. (I'm currently reading The Virgin Suicides, soon gonna start on A Clash of Kings.)

And here I was thinking that no one was gonna bat for The Middleman. Yes, watch that and Party Down and Flight of the Conchords (I haven't seen Mildred Pierce). And you can also add Cowboy Bebop, The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., and Andy Richter Controls the Universe.

Of course, it was very, very nice to see characters like Locke and Sayid experience happiness after all the shit they'd been through… but it didn't feel quite right, all the same. Return to Oz deserves a reassessment. It scared the shit out of me as a kid, and it's still unnerving to watch. It needs a New Cult Canon entry, even though it already has a Year of Flops entry (which is too short, in my opinion).

Oh yes! And I like how her songs truly pop on shuffle… they never sound like the ones around them.

Since it hasn't been mentioned, let me add Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind to your viewing list. A fantastic sci-fi epic that's also an affecting coming of age tale. Speaking of coming of age tales, watch Kiki's Delivery Service too.
