Kiyoshi Kurosawa is a favorite of mine, too.

Pike was a scene-stealing wonder in An Education. It's sad that role hasn't led to better parts.

Ray Stevenson, possibly? He's 6' 4" and looks formidable. He's Titus Pullo, fer chrissake.

He kinda sounds like Angel from the TV show. Or Spike Spiegel minus the detective part. Those guys do have personalities, though.

I'm sure most of the AVC staff decided to skip Oogieloves, even though that would mean they couldn't in good faith put it on the list. That must have been a tough choice for them to make.

I enjoyed The Avengers a lot. But it's ridiculous to compare it with TDKR. Batman is a more down-to-earth hero. He wasn't going to end up fighting aliens and gods in his movies. That's not really his thing, even though he does it sometimes in the comics. Batman comes from a tradition of violent pulp avengers. Not

That's something that used to bother me, @avclub-de584085097dbcc290d237ea48ccd97c:disqus , but let's accept that Inception isn't really about dreams. It's not about the real world (or real dreams) any more than the Batman films are. And you can always fanwank that these are engineered dreams, so they aren't like

I guess Nolan's the kind of director that can roll with the punches. Inserting Catwoman into the film could have derailed it (as in the case of Spiderman and Venom). But she fit in pretty seamlessly, I think. Even if the film could do without her, I for one am delighted that Anne Hathaway's fantastic performance

Damn, did you have to bring up the outrigger? I had managed to forget that? Okay, what about Libby being in the mental institution?

What are your top picks in Japanese cinema, then? I will say that I am a definitely a fan of Kurosawa, though not of Rashomon. The acting in that film is too theatrical and overwrought for my taste. I found Dreams visually beautiful but a bit tedious and too on-the-nose. I didn't care for The Bad Sleep Well at all. I
