You might have mentioned the lair in The Middleman. That was one of the best depictions of a sci-fi/spy/comic-book-style lair I've ever seen. Quite possibly my favorite.

They're not very hip (and they should never be), but the Legion is my favorite super team after the JLI. I don't think they will ever make it to the big screen, though. And if they do, they're bound to be re-imagined as something more hip and contemporary…. ecchhh.
