It's not the actress —- she's legitimately talented. The writing just sucks.

And really does Oliver love Felicity if he won't even clue her in to his plan?
Just, please, let Felicity have bad-ass agency apart from men again….
Thank you!
BOOK SPOILERS.
I'm happy that the show is trying to insert some impatience and some recklessness into Jamie. Not only does it stop a pet peeve I have of male characters in romances (they're too perfect) but it also did a nice job of showing how hard life has actually been for him — because his excitement at finally having things he…
But they're back next episode!! It was in the preview.
I loooved season 1 Caroline. She was always the stand-out character for me.
Maybe the avclub isn't for you. You should try tumblr…
Nothing tops Ichabod Crane's breakdown on taxes on donuts/"baked goods" for me. It still makes me laugh/question taxes on baked goods.
If Murtaugh, Rupert, Angus, Mrs. Fitz, Geilis, Ned and the gratuitous Scotland shots were there, I'd so be down for this.
(FOR THOSE WHO'VE READ THE BOOKS)
According to imdb, Anne Kenney wrote this episode, the wedding episode and the black kirk episode. In other words, I love Anne Kenney. The way she executes a realistic and emotional multi-act plot with a central theme (this one recovering from trauma) just blows my mind.
It was unsettling that both Merlyn and Ra's were more Dad-like than badasses this episode. Come on guys, you're evil masterminds…
I like Maseo but I really, really needed Ra's to chop off his head at the betrayal — especially because he just said Oliver should do the same to his crew. It would have been a great way to be like "welcome to the league of assassins, bitch. it's on."
And at one point i definitely had the thought: "wait, aren't they still wearing pants? what is—-?"
Not to nitpick Oliver and Felicity finally getting down, but that scene was weirdly put together. It actually felt more like "here is everything we shot" rather than a scene…
Felicity saying "sounds like you gave up too easily" after Ra's al Ghul sob story was just fantastic. And then she steals Ra's drugs and uses them on Oliver just to not give in yet. You go Felicity, swing away.
well done deconstructive recovery. clap clap clap.
In college we used to say how our dates/nights/whatever went by coming up with a lifetime movie title for them. "It Was in a Restaurant: The Mike Baxter Story" and so on. Good times.
