Yeah it's a fine line between premise and macguffin. I get what you're saying, it's not the disappearance, it's the question that's the macguffin. Or it's Lindelof refusing to answer it that makes it a macguffin. Something like that. I hated Minority Report for the same reason.

It's ok, when i saw it in the show, I thought it was someone being smothered and immediately went "oh no, he's going to kill donna moss."

Yep, in all honesty, the CGI and Theroux's fake tan are the weak points of the show for me. You'd think with subject matter like this, you'd want to stay grounded with a Hopper or Rockwell palette. Nope, the show goes bezerker sometimes and Theroux can look wayyy too hollywood for small town cop.

Cough, LEGEND OF BILLIE JEAN. Never forget.

Wait, was the maguffin here the church? Because that was a huge development and had the super cool notion that "a new god is in town." In other words, the opposite of maguffin…

Ann Dowd keeps reminding me of Margo Martindale from Justified…. which means I'm going to like her a lot and I really hope the GR is just an exploitative cult that she lords over as some form of prophet.

It was all set-up — but part of me wonders if the set-up flagrancy wasn't to make the viewer suffer so that you can equal feel his giddy-sinner-relief after getting the money.

Sweet, it features De La Soul! IN!

Great, thanks for the rec.

I'll admit to not knowing him and his work well but this makes me want to check him out. Is this a good place to start or should I go with 2k7 or Bombay?

… I don't think she should be a singer, her voice is pretty weak. The song though is great.

Yeah but at least you get a movie out of it.

It's probably here somewhere but I can't find it — the opening monologue by the guest star in SNL. Every now and then it's perfect, most of the time it just cements the notion that being a stand-up comedian is a privilege, not a right.

I actually like the idea of it. One of the hardest things about dating for me is switching from chit-chatting to actually talking. It's nice to have a break from that, especially for introverts like me. It lets me catch up and take an actual look at someone.

I am a bit upset about it, but that was the most fun I've had in a bar in awhile.

No, obviously as Rachel Weisz in The Brothers Bloom. Do you know nothing about conventions?

I don't think I could handle Shane Carruth and Star Wars. It would get real dark, real quick…

Rian Johnson things I'd like to see in the star wars:
