Unfortunately the books that really make WoT worthwhile are books 3-7, with 4, 5, and 6 being the best by far. Book 1 is extremely slow-starting….but if you're interested in a very indepth epic world, it does get pretty good.

RJ had gotten into real trouble with books 8-10, but the pacing was good in book 11 - Knife of Dreams was the one where he was actually setting up all the end game stuff, and it reads very well.
