@avclub-e5b4d5a1803a9d833d999f06c9ca7467:disqus — If anything, the treatment of teeps was unbelievably generous. If B5 telepathy appeared in the real world, I guarantee you there would be immediate, and very violent, anti-teep pogroms. Anyone suspected of being a teep would be either killed or forced to work for the

At the time, however, JMS said that he based Clark's EA on the contemporary Clinton administration.

After Watergate, the Republican establishment was very interested in finding a way to sidestep factual news sources by offering propaganda partisan news in order to shore up public support for their preferred way of running the government. I'm not being hyperbolic: this is precisely what the GOP said they wanted to do.

@avclub-e5b4d5a1803a9d833d999f06c9ca7467:disqus — I wonder how stepping up could have worked with Vir and Lennier given that they're both very different characters from their superiors. In comparison to Londo, Vir has a conscience and  clean hands.  In comparison to Delenn, Lennier is a lot more worldly and a lot less

Ah, Mr. Morden.  Good morning.

The most troubling thing to me is that I don't think JMS gets any of this, or if he does it doesn't come through in the show.

@avclub-cb0e59b8f769a8698b9f7154dd8809b5:disqus — It's not too hard to get into 3D graphics. It just takes a lot of time, dedication, and a fast computer.  There's decent software available free and there are publicly available ship models for many scifi ships to save the years it would take to build the skills to

@avclub-6d8e5be200a835beb77d899f00b890a5:disqus — LOL. Sheridan does have horrible taste in/luck with women.

Agreed the scene falls flat given the gravity of what's going on behind the lines. One main character stopping just short of saying a main-ish character deserves to die is a big deal. In a serialized show, you can't go there and have everything end nicely without debasing the characters.

On Gethsemane:

I'm afraid that's a myth.

Come to think of it, B5 had a habit of doing teaser/demo/draft plots and then redoing the same story again, better, later in the series.  To a point, B^2 and WWE are another example.

I'm not going to belabor the point too much because I've harped on it already, but Delenn and Sheridan are definitely wearing way too many hats this season. Running off to save people is just one example.

As the series progresses, pretty much every ship gets nerfed at the speed of the plot.

@avclub-945ba977c27d196cdeaf6cbe4ff682f4:disqus —  Arex and Ballongforbud beat me to it by a day, but the LNAW has a historical precedent.  Meaning of 'non-aligned' in the Non-Aligned Movement is that the countries were not aligned with either side of the Cold War, not that they weren't (very weakly) aligned with each
