Makoto (I think…) Shinkai is pretty great. I recommend checking out some of his stuff. Hideaki Anno hasn't been good in years though. Studio Gainax is a shell of its former self.

I'm from the Chicago area. My grandma (who was born to immigrants) still calls people "hunky" on a regular basis. I've even heard my mom say it a few times to other Slovaks.
