The fact is that acts like the racist ventriloquist were all over as the last dying night club varietals left. It's funny that the best of the dummy acts (Otto and George) did a similarly brutal act but actually added humor, timing, and better work.
It's funny to read reviews on a historical drama about the 1970s comedy scene upset that characters from the 1970s comedy scene are doing 1970s style club comedy and addressing issues which, while they seem trivial now, aren't.
