I once had Wish You Were Here and Animals on vinyl, and I put them on two sides of a cassette tape (with a little of Richard Wright's solo album to fill in the ends.) That's how I heard it for years, so I still think of them as one long album. Both absolutely brilliant.

Holy shit, stoned, that comment is practically sacrilegious. Anyone who finds it physically possible to hit the skip button during Shine On should just give up on music and buy some Jessica Simpson CDs.

Of course, if you want the really good shit, you should pick up Steve Reich's "Drumming" or "Music for 18 Musicians." That will blow your mind-hole.

Four… four things about Pink Floyd…

Philip Glass
I don't know if this would break your rules, but if you want a real Philip Glass zoning out experience like no other, buy a copy of Koyaanisqatsi on DVD.

Irony
It's ironic, last night I celebrated my anniversary. I dressed up and took my wife to a fancy French restaurant, and put together some of my most iconically romantic music for the ride. We listened to Diamond Life by Sade on the way over, and Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes on the way back.

Sarcoidosis, eh?
So apparently there were two Fox shows based on his life: The Bernie Mac show, and the first half of every episode of House.

Parliament
How can you name-check Funkadelic and snub Parliament in the same column? Heresy.

Why is Kevin Costner still making movies?
And how did he get time off from the IHOP?

Well, as long as The X-Files has a bad-ass 10-minute light saber fight with Ray Park, at the end of which Duchovny gets stabbed in the chest, I'm in.

Wow, two nautical jumping metaphors in the same sentence. Well played.

What?
Low and Magnetic Fields can suck my ass. But good call on Flaming Lips and The Roots, everybody.

Kochanski!
Thanks for bringing up Red Dwarf. The fundamental change in the nature of the character made her more of a cliche and less interesting, and it didn't help that she was brought back during the weakest season in the show's history.

No Amiina? No Mum?
Bummer, man. Nice pictures, though.

No Mana…
Never managed to get your collection south of the border, eh?

Ouch
My condolences about your basement. I'm glad the CDs still play, and I hope you didn't have any pictures or diaries or anything irreplaceable down there.

Maybe Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter can tag-team it. That would be a fitting tribute to his memory.

I didn't say they sounded like Yes. I said they tried to sound like Yes.

No Jimmy Page either. Of course, his solo stuff is a little more disposable than Beck's. But it's interesting that you name-checked The Yardbirds on the week that two of their three most famous members would have come up, and both were denied.

No Jeff Beck?
Not even Wired, or Blow By Blow? I'm shocked.
