There's been a few of these when sitcoms try to do punk rock. I think the most egregious example was on Just Shoot Me, when the Serious Artist photographer was really excited to shoot his Serious Musician idol. This would have been fine, had he not gone on to perform his "profound" masterpiece, "Head Full of Nails."

Lisa Loeb was (and probably still is) drop-dead gorgeous. I've often wondered if the glasses were suggested by her label to make her seem more geeky and approachable, because people might resent songs about being insecure from a model.

I think that's where sand turns to glass, because it's always like 1,000 degrees there.

Aren't they all?

Look, as long as the new club has a punk rock-themed restaurant and serves enormous frozen drinks named after musicians, I think we can all agree we'll be happy, amirite?

Yeah, the next verse was: "So I think I'm going transgender/ Gonna go ahead with the Laura thing, maybe a few more girl names, too/ Wife's cool with it/ I'll talk about it in Rolling Stone/ Gonna be a chick, oh yeah!"

I always assumed that was Grace Slick. No?

Jimmy crack corn! (Points mic to crowd) AND WE DON'T CARE!!!

Yeah, I didn't find that especially fun.

I think you've hit the nail on the head—it stays with you. It's a cliche', but there's Buffalo '66, and there's everything else. There just isn't another film like it. And sure, the VG character is abrasive and self-absorbed, but it's so fully realized that you can  almost empathize with him. It creates a world that

I took cycling, and we had like nine WEEKS of classroom instruction before we got to ride.

Absolutely; in my book it's the best scene in anything ever.

If that's your thing,

Ha, the old guy forum! I'm 45, and my advice is don't sweat it. You always think you're old and it's too late for (…) then 10 years go by and realize how young you were and how stupid it was to worry.

Kind of off-topic, but why the hell would you want to bother being a skinhead in New Orleans? It's like being a being a surfer in Minnesota.

No, in Richmond, CA, all they want to do is sell you a bag of crack before they shoot you in the face and steal your car.

Eh, they were more a legend than a band, anyway.

I was lucky enough to be around when the album came out, and I was really struck by the sound. It's just so… odd. It creates an absolute world that just draws you in, but it's hard to explain why.
