It helps that Always Sunny isn't filtered by Dee's point of view but by the whole group being selfish and self absorbed. Whatever criticism one has of Dee, there are 4 other male characters who are all selfish assholes as well. So it isn't making a statement about women.

It's funny you mention Mindy Kaling's show because I've seen a fair number of  comments on Deadline.com and Tvbythenumbers.com where many people deemed her not attractive enough to headline a show of her own.

This show reminds me so much of Parks yet at the same time the tone of the two shows are so different. Veep takes such a cynical tone of politics while Parks takes exactly the opposite stance.

Kudos on that very nicely written paragraph but I feel like you're reading some depth into the movie that wasn't there. The movie just threw lots of ambitious ideas and hoped it would somehow tie together in some meaningful way.
