I was really hoping that when the Fourth District extended out to Ames that we'd get rid of that embarrassment. Sigh.

Further west of Iowa City and more like the center of the state, to be fair. That's really where the demographics start to shift though. But really, western Iowa feels like an entirely different state and should be grafted to Nebraska. (Though Omaha would probably tell them to get the hell out.)

As someone who grew up in the wrong side of Iowa (that'd be the western side), I really, really, REALLY hope they don't depict eastern Iowa as some universe of yokels. Central/eastern Iowa cancels out the yokel population from dead-red western Iowa. All the major universities are in central/eastern Iowa as well. How

Oh, I very much agree on that. Actual tribe names and straight-up slurs tend to get bunched up in this discussion. I have way, way less issue with Redskins getting changed, with some of that reason being that the people involved are REALLY dragging their feet over it. We're past the point of no return.

I haven't watched the segment in question, but even looking at the screencap (and realizing it's from a show as smartly-written as the Colbert Report) made me not upset at all. It was clearly a joke and no one was trying to be offensive. I have no issue with cheap shot stereotype humor if it's to prove a point, which

The first two games had some of the more unlikable characters in recent memory. Zeke might be the worst supporting character of all time.

I'm not going to pretend myself (or many of us) could competently run a broadcast TV network, but NBC is three tiers past self-parody at this point. Just completely out of touch. WHO CARES ABOUT THIS? Why would you be a part of this? (And not entirely related, but how does one fix NBC at this point?)

Monster Wars combined monster truck action with absurd pro wrestling promos. It's the dumbest, yet oddly hilarious thing ever.

To each their own, I didn't mean to get super-negative about a game I otherwise liked. (I played the game on Normal, which makes it more frustrating to me because I feel I'm at least decent to good at games.) But it's hard for me to discount how little "fun" I had with the game sometimes.

…yes, but there's a difference between "Don't fight this guy unless you must!" and "Oh, we're just going to put you in a room with these things and good luck maybe they won't attack." Instant-kill monsters with little to no chance to counter are lame, much like instant-fail stealth. Games need to toe the line between

This will probably be a better movie than game.

Come on man. This isn't difficult. You are dangerously approaching "sock puppet" territory here.

Part of me hopes this happens and bombs terribly, just so we can just put a boot down on ironic '90s nostalgia. (I grew up in the late 90s. I'm okay with moving on.)

First one that comes to mind is the original Naked Gun. I watched it once via Netflix and was surprised by all the scenes I don't remember, including a scene where Drebin is for some reason walking on windowsills on top of this large building. There are naked statues all over the building, so Frank reaches for a

Just so you know, now I have the robot psychotherapy sketch in my head. My head is now a looping set of lines, including…

I'll add pro wrestling to the list, though I'm sure I'll get chuckles for it. But the current product has some of the same problems people have with TV shows, games and comics…creative has their mind set on specific elements (or performers) and refuses to listen to the fans. No entertainment venture should have its

This will sound weird, but One Piece has sort of become that for me as well. And it's because of two things:

I think a lot of people will (and have said) video games, so I'll just say that.

Right, but what I meant is when they allow a particular target to actually appear on the show and say something "funny" so hey, they're an actual person or something! I hate just about every single time they do this, because it's incredibly fake and "rewards" the person in question for being involved in something

I think it's a mixture of things. McHale doesn't care as much anymore, reality shows have become so terrible that even realizing they exist makes you sad and The Soup itself is completely toothless when it comes to mocking celebrities. Seriously, DON'T PUT THESE LOSERS ON THE SHOW! It doesn't humanize them or anything
