You're very much right that this has happened in the past. Dwight' Doomsday plot was stupid and contrived. But this is realistic. I could easily see one of the people at my job over-reacting and getting the bug bomb. As for the hazmat suit, well, Dwight has a fondness for goofy get-ups. This dates all the way back to

Let's be honest, this is pretty much true. :P

A lot of people are complaining that this episode felt unrealistic and sitcom-y. May I direct your attention to "Drug Testing", one of the great episodes from s2. It's pretty much the same story. Something bad happens in the office and Dwight goes into overdrive, dons a costume, and forces the people to do something

Yup, I agree. Since "The Office" has become the cool show to hate, I feel people unrealistically dog on the episodes.

The offensive way in which this show has portrayed nerds in is really sickening. Growing up being labeled as a "nerd" was difficult, but I wasn't super-awkward and socially unaware like this show portrays. I feel that it was created/written by people who either A) observed "nerds" or B) made fun of them actively.

The article, "X-Files: A Mixed Bag of Episodes and a Feature Film Pave the Way for Season Six" from 'Cinefantastique' answers a lot of these questions.

But Anderson, Manners, and Duchovny supported the move, although Duchovny was the most vocal about it.

Yeah. I think the show should have wrapped up at the end of season 7, as the was initial plan. Sure, fine, you could justify an eight season, but at the very most, that's when it should have ended. The problem with "The X-Files" is that the show had the chance to have a nice happy cool ending at the end of season 8,

I agree. As an existential Christian, I believe that everyone should be free to choose their own beliefs. However, I understand that (in my personal belief system) that not *everything* can be right. That being said, I would never equate someone who has a "Coexist" bumper sticker with the devil.

I think that's why episodes like this and s2's "Irresistible" works so well. The MOTW is really just human evil. Which, if you think about it, is pretty scary.

People seem to forget that the early seasons had their fair share of shit installments too. Remember practically half of season 1? Or "Teso de Bichos"? Or the chupacabra one? Or practically half of season 5? :P

Did "Die Hand Die Verletzt" from s2 freak you out like it freaked me out?

I agree. I remember when they first introduced "Samantha" as an adult in "Colony" (I think), it was a HUGE shocker, even though she was a clone. But then we re-met her in "Herrenvolk"… and then in "Redux II"… and then there were random flashback episodes ("Paper Hearts", "Dreamland II", etc.)
