I think this might turn out to be a decent show, enjoying it so far.
Hopefully things will start to go good for poor Annie, that girl has been through enough trauma, now that the widow is adopting her (traumatized young girl adopted by rich widow, this plot seems familiar for some reason).

I think your interpretation is right, it wasn't that surprising that he had a sexual relationship with a teacher and that all of his issues with women would have been based on this. Seeing his teacher again did seem to change his attitude about women and we haven't seen him sexing as much as previous seasons.
