I've actually seen a couple of those.

I think outdated science-fiction elements such as astral projection, dying planets, etc. will be a bit hard for audiences to swallow. I predict the movie itself will be good, but people will think it's weird and not go see it.

Another action franchise that inexplicably turned into a children's film? Mad Max: Beyond the Thunderdome. Man that movie sucked.
