And speaking of Beasts, Abraham Attah. I didn't think he had any shot whatsoever at getting nominated, but he was incredible.

Nope! I really really really must see it though because pretty and because DDL.

First one. Haven't seen Weekend yet, and I've also been meaning to watch Looking for the longest time.

Saw The Hateful Eight again, which was followed by a Q&A with Tarantino. I can listen to this guy talk about film—both films as a whole and film reels—for days; at the end, he really got into film vs. digital and how much more meaningful the former is, and he just exuded passion for the subject. As for the movie in

Great list! I'll also add

THE HATEFUL EIGHT
-Overall, loved it. I had a blast. A Western mashed up with a whodunit mashed up with a horror film that is ultimately also 100% Tarantino. The movie is excessive in every way imaginable, and there are certain scenes in the first half that don't quite build up the tension as well as they're meant to.

THE HATEFUL EIGHT
The Hateful Eight is excessive in every way imaginable. Its roadshow runtime is a whopping 187 minutes. The characters talk for an eternity. Blood spurts in every which way. Certain scenes feel like they exist just to exist, circling around and around without building up the tension as well as they

I flew through Please Like Me in the last few days, and it was really good. I forgot who here recommended it, but thanks. Also:

I'll also put in a word for that fantastic Hannibal ensemble, with brilliant performances all around from the main cast (yet again) as well as the additions. Richard Armitage and Rutina Wesley were phenomenal.

Same! (But on the 24th)

70 mm plus musical overture plus intermission plus special program plus the fact that it's a Tarantino movie….the experience will be awesome.

THE REVENANT (no spoilers)
For me, the best aspects of this movie were enough to outweigh Inarritu's more annoying tendencies on display. I wasn't a huge fan of the way the supporting characters were incorporated into Glass's story, and after the constant flashbacks/hallucinations/dreams, I certainly did not come to

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS
It’s difficult not to get chills when “A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away” appears and John Williams’s iconic theme kicks in. It’s difficult not to get nostalgic when characters like Han Solo and Chewbacca return to kick some ass, when Stormtroopers and the Millenium Falcon and

Great list! Some of the ones on there I haven't seen, but those I did see I really liked. I watched End of the Tour and Tangerine today, and both were great. Plus Spotlight/Carol/Inside Out are in my top 10 for sure.

At the same time, we can both agree wholeheartedly on Mad Max: Fury Road.

Also, here are my lists because I assume you are all dying to see them:

I do as well. She was good in The Danish Girl—which is what she'll most likely be nominated for—but The Danish Girl is such a mediocre movie and her performance in Ex Machina is much more deserving of recognition .

I wish Ex Machina received more love (it was only on one ballot). That was my personal favorite of the year: stellar performances all around, looked great, and chilling/funny/intense/you name it. Sci fi done well. Also, I love Oscar Isaac so much.

I will say that Lens is my second favorite episode of the season and that I love Carrie Coon and Regina King.

For these lists, limiting myself to one episode/performance per show.
