I agree!
I really loved this episode. I hate seeing Art get shot, but the reverberations throughout the Marshals office—including Tim and Rachel!—are emotionally resonant, and it forces Raylan to admit to himself that Art "makes a difference" to him. Of course, he's always going to be Raylan Givens, and he isn't going to…
Don't remind me of that.
"No, I remember which one you were. Smug little hobbit-looking beaner shitbird who told the jury what a no-account savage my late husband was. And that I was worse."
"I may not know a lot about a lot of things, but I DO know how to blow shit up."
Also, I'm not sure I agree with Erik's criticism of the episode being an emotionally manipulative backtrack or the Jess-Nick problems coming out of nowhere. There were definitely a number of signs leading up to this point, and I think the way the situation was handled in this episode was realistic and compelling;…
"Science is more of a belief than anything else."
I half expected Marty Hart to break into the loft and beat everyone up.
They give us True American, only to break up Jess and Nick half an hour later? I NEED HELP REACTING TO SOMETHING.
Since I already posted my reviews for the remainder of the season 3 episodes a few months back in WOT, I'm going to go ahead and move straight to season 4 (wow, I'm almost done. The loss of this show will rip a hole in the fabric of my TV watching universe). I'll be posting the season 3 ones (eps 8-13) at the TI Forum…
Friday Night Lights—Season 3, Episodes 5-7
EPISODE 5—"Every Rose Has Its Thorn"
Jason Street's back, and he has a son now; yet, the situation is far from perfect. They're not living together, he isn't making enough money, and he's growing desperate, making him the perfect guy to pair up with Billy Riggins (and Tim and…
If they really want to fuck with us, they can throw in a cheesy shot of the Mother floating away from her grave.
I can buy Barney-Robin and I wouldn't say I'm annoyed by anyone, but I am really glad we're not getting another season.
Yup. I mean, say what you want about the Robin-Ted stuff, but there's no question that Cobie Smulders and Josh Radnor killed tonight. They really sold what they were saying, and the storyline was, in my opinion, really moving because of them.
I actually really liked this episode, but by this point, I thought the Mother would've played a bigger role. After "How Your Mother Met Me", I was really looking forward to continued exploration of the character, and not just her in relation to Ted; rather, her as her own, unique person. Cristin Miloti has proved…
Ted called himself out on how corny it sounded, and I think that made it more affecting.
I'm just disappointed we didn't actually get to see a gorilla.
Okay, good. It's one of my favorite series, and I think it's well worth finishing out. Plus, you're at the point in the show where you get to see Anna Torv at her best. Fauxlivia is amazing.
I think the first half of season 3 is Fringe at its best, so if you're not much of a fan there, I don't know if you'll be a fan of the rest of the series.
I think Beadie's a great presence on this show, as she seems like a vision of the future for all these characters, almost like a cautionary tale. For a show about people falling back into old patterns and trying to find a sense of direction, she's a nice character to have. Also, Louise Lasser is very good in the role.
