Look, I don't mind the Patton Oswalt love. But six months? He was in the AVQ&A on Worst Christmas songs. His performance in "Young Adult" was highlighted in the review. And there was the video of him doing nothing on "King of Queens."
Is there anyone the collective AV Club staff likes as much as Patton Oswalt? I'm not complaining - I think it gives the site its own personality and quirk, objectivity be damned - but on the shortlist of "people/acts we will shamelessly promote, whatever they do (even if it's standing on a TV set doing NOTHING)" I…
Yes, I am. Also: no, I'm not.
…you might want to read that back to yourself….
are you being sarcastic, or just stupid? This December we will see (or have seen) new releases by The Roots, The Black Keys, and Common.
"non-committal guitar playing?" Like the guy would rather be playing a bassoon, if one were available, but all he could find was this here guitar?
Totally don't understand why you do this in mid-NOVEMBER. What the hell? Might as well call it "best music of mid-November 2010 to mid-November 2011." And even that doesn't make any sense, because last year's #1 album was released the last week of November.
also, coincidentally, proof that digital certainly WON'T keep lousy projectionists from messing up a trip to the movies.
The version currently on the playlist is Ray Charles and someone who sounds uncannily like Miss Piggy. And every time it plays (I work at SBUX) I can't help but think, "Ray, if only you could see who it is you're trying to rape…"
Made me think of Ron White and his glass of scotch or whatever.
ok, but does this matter? Say, for instance, that I made a list of the 100 best albums released in 2011. How many are being pulled from Spotify by this decision?
hooray for you.
"nice day."
My God, that's Tom Cruise. I seriously thought it was Sam Rockwell, and only clicked on the link wondering how anyone could possibly hate Sam Rockwell. I read the article three times, wondering what the hell Rockwell was doing at the top of it.
Really, was "The Skin in Which I Live" just utterly unacceptable?
"…on the verge of succumbing to the same terminal blandness that’s gripped Martin for so long."
Possibly. They were brothers, after all.
I think you're confusing things. They're iconic because they were the ONLY ones working, and EVERYONE saw their movies. Same as with the Beatles or Led Zeppelin. We don't have icons anymore because the fields have diversified and everyone has a niche.
Really, Kate Winslet? That was the best you could do?
