After looking through the list again, you're probably right - 4 is pushing it.  Unforgiven for sure, and I can't imagine Shawshank not getting in.  The most underrated 90s film would be a good debate.

12 Monkeys, Jackie Brown, Toy Story, The Truman Show, Leon, Crimson Tide, True Romance….

I'll go for Heat instead.

Damn

It is a work of great beauty.  The battle scenes are very exciting too, which often gets forgotten.  Admittedly, footage of a chick coming out of an egg during an attack on a machine gun nest is somewhat distracting.  Wait a minute….chick….egg….machine gun NEST…..*mind blown*

LA Confidential needs to be in there - endlessly watchable.  Out of Sight, which is often overlooked, should also get a mention.

WRONG.

WRONG.

I think a lot of these films were overrated at the time but have now been largely forgotten, with some notable exceptions (numbers 6,9, and 10).  Dances with Wolves got a ton of oscars, but the only thing that people really remember is the great soundtrack;  as a film it is no longer part of our collective

There are a couple of scenes in Jurassic Park that are among the best of the decade, but as a whole I don't think it cuts it.  Of course when I was 14 and saw it in the cinema I was of a different opinion.

He's a good looking boy.  Do you mind if I keep this photo?

Spielberg would have us believe that the message of Saving Private Ryan is the sacrifice young men made for our freedom.  That may well be true, but this message was delivered through some of the most visceral, violent battle scenes commited to celuloid, and this is what sticks in the mind.
