Spielberg would have us believe that the message of Saving Private Ryan is the sacrifice young men made for our freedom.  That may well be true, but this message was delivered through some of the most visceral, violent battle scenes commited to celuloid, and this is what sticks in the mind.

Endlessly quotable film, that.  Also, like all good action films, it has a definite point that you fast forward to (in vhs speak), and that is Matrix landing a dingy full of guns onto a beach.  Genius-level carnage ensues.

'Take on Me' by Aha usually has me running towards the dancefloor in a state of glee.  If this is then followed by other '80s classics, it's hard to leave.  One of my more memorable dancing moments was to 'Intro' by Alan Braxe and Fred Falke in about 2000.  Class.

Any episode that quotes moby dick and also has Mr Burns flailing around at the end of a fire hose works for me. All bases covered.

I would love to witness the creation of any of the American 70's classics, but especially the Godfather, French Connection, and Jaws.  Also, can you imagine witnessing Kubrick creating 2001?  For me, it almost seems strange to think of discussions about camera angles and edits with relations to that film; it's so

He'd have to take it from my cold, dead hands.  My VHS copy of ESB is more precious than ever, and I don't even have a VHS player to watch it anymore!

If Matrix was here, he'd laugh too.

Reveal by REM has always meant summer to me. That and Yoshimi by the flaming lips. It is mostly down to them being on heavy rotation during the summer when they first came out. Of course, reveal was designed as a summer record, and I still think it works well.

Before they went on there mission, they really should have watched ET so they could get a basic understanding of how to control and manage an alien encounter.  There is no way those guys were getting infected by alien goop.  Also, shouldn't there have been a support vessel in orbit, and a proper isolated lab set up?
