Okay, you've sold me on it. Oh, and the only reason I didn't mention the Visigoths was because Belisarius never fought them (to my knowledge - I'm now recalling an abortive campaign or something connected with Theudis where the southeastern coast was regained, but I'm not sure)

You're really not. The argument of that book is that basically Genghis Khan liked shiny things so we should all thank him for pillaging not only the coffers of his enemies, but their artistic traditions as well. It would be like exonerating Hitler because he gave such a boost to the arms industry.

Despite the fact that there really isn't that much on the screen set in the Crusades, it already feels inert and done to death. If its got to happen, let it be about  the reign of Melisende (between 1st and 2nd) who was a woman, so it can be all modern and stuff, and about all the issues they had from Nur Ad-Din and

The Code of the Woosters… Hmmm, was that the one where Bertie almost gets married?

No to Bettany. Flashman is the physical antithesis to Maturin in every way. My alternative: anyone who can pull off the 'tache.

To be fair, it was the early days of CGI, so it couldn't look all that realistic, but the one decision that cannot be forgiven is to transport the action from a grim stony castle-thing to a magical fairy tale Forbidden City for no reason other than the fact that Mervyn Peake was in China for a while. Are you seriously suggesting that Infinite Jest could fit into a miniseries?

I think the Mule storyline, subplotted out of all proportion, would make a pretty awesome Star Wars-y series. The problem with almost all the rest of the stories is that they each justify about half a movie.

Are you an American or an American't?

It took you a while to think of that one, didn't it? ;)

I quite enjoy the balding one (Larry or Walt?) but the slapstick stuff and the whole Mom-is-evil reverse-Freudian aspect has been rather overused of late. Its a bit late for feedback now, though…

That would certainly be a better pun… or should that be 'play on words'?

Given that he was in both Mo' Better Blues and (I believe) Jungle Fever, I'd say that was, at the very least, a Tron certainty.

You were already crazy to watch Last of the Summer Wine ;)
Ultimate question: Who was your favourite Third Man? Blamire, Seymour, Foggy or Truelove?
Personally, I prefer first-stint Foggy, but I'm really a Clegg man through and through.
And no, I don't have a life.

I interrobanged yo momma in the ear, be-atch!

"Filthy Mudblood! Wait, I'm…"

Someone else supply the punchline; I've lost the will to live.

Would "Sea of One-eyed Monsters" be an acceptable substitute?

I will not rest until all of his predictions are dealt with in the next series. Davina McCall's probably not that busy anymore.
