Yeah, I remember a lot of jokes about the idea when it was announced from people who didn't notice David Fincher was listed as the director (or worse, had no idea who David Fincher was).

"Minimal Effort: The Movie"

Yeah, I mentioned this up higher. I don't know if that was a case of paid product placement or not, but they're depicted maybe slightly better than Weland-Yutani in the Alien movies.

But it is a stupid premise. 2 hilarious* middle-aged actors starring in a movie about them being aging fish-out-of-water in a hip new company is classic comedic fodder. But making that company an actual, real-life global conglomerate and unquestioningly depicting it as a utopia is completely bizarre and off-putting.

One Two Three is pretty upfront about the management at Coca Cola Company being corrupt, incompetent and uncaring, plus the product itself not being very healthy, although beloved around the world.

What about when a character dies and only the refreshing taste of Coca Cola can revive them?

Not that this specific idea would ever be brought up or come to pass, but it's not like politicians don't propose and pass retarded ideas that don't solve jack shit on a daily basis.

Really, at least since Teddy Roosevelt and the Panama canal. I'm sure many would say longer than that.

Are there face huggers in this movie?

Nice.

"You hear SMB everywhere in Northern California."

There's huge overlap between QOTSA fans and Ween fans. And Ween has done everything under the sun. If a person can't listen to any single Ween album from 1993-2003 and not find at least 2 or 3 songs they absolutely love, they're either not a music lover or they just hate fun and happiness.

"I like how the interviewer manages to work in that Perry is actually quite talented."

"I mean, there's no denying Perry is talented"

I've been listening to Belly on Spotify recently (the Letters To Cleo references on Parks and Rec got me thinking about all the early 90s alt-rock flash-in-the-pans) and they totally hold up.

I don't think it was ever groundbreaking or insanely original like Larry Sanders or Arrested Development (and it was plenty funny early on when it was basically copying from those shows), but I definitely think it found its own unique style by the 2nd season or even the tail end of the 1st.

30 Rock found it's own voice and became amazing, but the first season really seemed like a mashup of Arrested Development and Larry Sanders. Tracy's Meat Machine plot especially seemed like an obvious ripoff of the Cornballer (he does an infomercial, users get burned by hot oil, etc).

Isn't she Mick Jagger's daughter or is that someone else?

Jesus, I knew exactly what clip that would be before clicking on it.

I dropped something!
