If you want a non-Noel/AV Club opinion, I'd say get it. It's a little softer than 'The Historical Conquests…', but it feels like a natural step forward as far as songwriting goes.
I knew that was coming! Ha!
Waste of a good rhythm section
Sure, I'm a fan of Purple and Tiny Music — but I sometimes feel like Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz could be used better somewhere else.
That's good to hear; I enjoy both of those album immensely.
I have to agree with Guy; Land might not be as sharp as Romero's previous three zombie films, but it's easily the one I can watch the most. It works well as a fun, creepy action film.
I live in Beaver Falls. I'm glad she's gone.
Noel's reviews were the springboard for me actually watching Buffy/Angel, after years of putting it off. Last summer I'd watch an episode, read Mr. Murray's review, repeat repeat.
Mr. Pibb ain't no fuddy duddy, like those doctors. He's a regular guy. Like me 'n' Axl.
Hey now, I got a Dr. Pepper 'cause of that album. Still holds a place in my heart. It was no free Mr. Pibb, though.
One of my only exposures to Coe…
…was from a live broadcast of a concert in West Virginia I happened upon in, oh, 2002? It was one of those free, all-day family type deals. And all of a sudden Coe just unleashes this insane tirade of vulgarity, only to have the broadcast cut off by color bars (briefly) and then a…
Fantastic
This is great news. Even their so-so albums (Hurrah, as Kyle mentioned) still have many great tunes on them.
Glad you mentioned TFC, Noel. I might be one of the few people on the planet that think SPIN was right with their pick (though, of course, I can't deny 'Nevermind').
I've heard this from a few people. I'm pretty sure the tune also showed up on the live 'Christmass' album he put out a few years ago, so I might have to see how it sounds there. It's one of the highlights on this album, I think, but I am curious to see how it sounds without all of that keyboard.
Eric Drew Feldman
It took me a while to digest this one, but I thankfully did before I reviewed it. I think it took me a while to get into the Eric Drew Feldman-ness, which has been basically absent since Teenager of the Year. This album is DRENCHED in Feldman's keyboards/synths.
To follow up on Bonerland's thought, Locke has felt trapped his entire life (in a wheelchair! by circumstances! etc.), kind of like UnLocke is trapped too.
John Neff
This man is a mysterious to me, since I feel like he has some songwriter chops hidden within and he's just waiting 'til the right moment to unleash.
ED Man!
On a personal level, Pavement probably impacted my musical tastes more (especially when I was in high school). But now, yeah, I'd rather listen to Archers any day of the week.
Nice, stza. REAL nice.
