Yeah I'm with you. Some of the questions and question-askers are kind of cringey, but there's still an hour of gold before that usually. The build-up and rising enthusiasm for Jason's "Jacob's Ladder scenario" on the recent Lake House episode was fantastic.

I really hope it's true that they invited him on without telling him they were doing a Spont episode

The fact that he wouldn't rule out eating again later that day was kind of disturbing.

Dumb

Oh my god I thought that was somehow an ironic affectation or something but nope, that's genuinely what he calls beers. Wow.

That Dougboys power hour was insane. Highlight for me was a buzzed/possibly drunk Wiger telling Gabrus how cool he was for using the phrase "to the dome" while Mitch had a meltdown over a microphone in the background. I was in the middle of a long run and had to stop and collect myself.

I wouldn't say I'm a fan - it's hard to argue it's anything but a failure as a film - but there's enough good stuff in it that I'm glad I saw it. And it looks great, like their stuff always does.

I saw some infographic recently about how whitewashed movies failed at the box office, which is a nice start obviously, but then it cited Cloud Atlas as an example. I almost fired off an apoplectic reply before thinking better of it, but it pisses me off when people let anger and outrage come before engaging with the

They were opening for Dan Boeckner's band Operators at a show I went to a couple weeks back. I assumed by the name they were an indie rock dude and wasn't planning on getting there in time for the opener, then in a period of 24 hours a music writer I follow on Twitter, Stereogum, and someone from this comments section

"Can we all stop pretending…"

I saw Baker open for the Decemberists weekend before last and that part of the song was amazing. Everyone was cheering wildly.

First one but I agree the second is even better

You need to chill

I'm not a big fan typically but that song is cool as hell.

It's my favorite Decemberists song period I think

M83 - My Tears Are Becoming A Sea
Robyn - Handle Me
New Order - Love Vigilantes
Jenny and Johnny - Switchblade
Modest Mouse - Heart Cooks Brain
Arcade Fire - Here Comes the Night Time
Neutral Milk Hotel - Two-Headed Boy

A renaissance is a revival, not a period of prominence.

Deep Impact was pretty good for a 90s disaster movie

With no dialogue too. Masterful.

That really is quite a stroke of luck/talent to be in 2 things that singular and classic, so far apart.
