They've been getting a free ride for far too long

No the other ones

Fuck the Cubs

This has come up before but I started doing the same thing in July '15. Congrats on finishing, I'm on Vampire Weekend at the moment myself.

Glad I didn't read this review before I saw it. The ending is the best thing it has going for it and Dowd hints at it too heavily.

The new Oberst is being slept on I feel like. The full-band versions of Ruminations songs are improvements in so many cases and some of the new rocking songs like "Napalm" are so much fun.

Cool

Yeah I'm still gonna listen but not having 3 or 4 of his extremely distinct songs balancing out Carl's (expertly crafted) sugary pop songs…is that even a New Pornos album?

Ooh, that Pornos song is really good. I was really disappointed to hear there was no Bejar on this album but now I'm excited again.

It's his music and also his absurd and frequently funny in-character interviews.

The Finn album is great. Even Pitchfork raved about it which they are not really wont to do for something in that style. The "God In Chicago" song/video combo is one of the best things I've seen this year: https://www.youtube.com/wat…

The National - All the Wine
The Hold Steady - You Gotta Dance (With Who You Came to the Dance With)
Cursive - Excerpts from Various Notes Strewn Around the Bedroom of April Connolly Feb 24, 1997
Sunset Rubdown - Idiot Heart
Bright Eyes - The Calendar Hung Itself…
Smashing Pumpkins - Hello Kitty Kat

I will have to see this gif

Aw man I'm not on Howl but I always look forward to those eps and I loved It's Your Boy Troy. Guess I gotta shell out for that premium 'tent.

To borrow a phrase from an iTunes review of the Pauly Shore Hollywood Handbook episode, that was straight up painful to listen to.

Robin Weigert, most well known for playing Calamity Jane on Deadwood, but she's been all over TV.

"Let Me Be Mine" is one of my absolute favorite Spoon songs, which is saying a lot. That was a good montage.

I'm almost certain it's shown to be Witchita onscreen, which I think is the funnier choice.

There's a continuity error in this episode. After Bertie wonders whether Randy will be showing up to the party, he can be seen in the background in one of the scenes where they're watching Witchita, and then later there's the scene where he actually arrives at the party.

I like it but I'm a sucker for pretty much anything he does really. Some of the songs definitely lose their punch like this (like "Mamah Borthwick") but others sound even better. And the new stuff is good too. "Afterthought" rules.
