I just got back from seeing Joanna Newsom. She was incredible. I can't even comprehend how someone could play the harp for 12 minutes on "Emily" while simultaneously singing the hundreds of words in that song, let alone everything else she did. She was also engaged with the audience and incredibly funny and charming.

Fantastic. Loved the unconventional way Lady M.'s final soliloquy was done. I would say Cotillard steals it but wouldn't want to cast aspersions on every other element.

One of my favorite and formative bands. Don't miss the bsides/rarities collection Rkives, lots of amazing stuff on there.

Yeah, that's enough to sell me on it. Honestly I wasn't really smart enough to put the ending of IJ together anyway and still loved the hell out of it, so that shouldn't be much of a detriment. Thanks!

I don't have much to add here but the commercials for these things are so weird. One of them has a guy going "Every player has a different value. You click on them and add them to your lineup."

Where are you getting "a shit-ton" of it? He was on the writing staff and as far as I can tell has no actual credited scripts. Very dubious.

This is essential. Behind-the-scenes look at the training.

Because it's a classic staple of the genre which he was taking on in that section? I dunno.

I don't think you were exactly supposed to be bowled over by the "twist."

I also did Infinite Jest this year. I started it on January 1st thinking it would take most of the year but I actually finished it in 2 months.

Man do I agree with that last bit. I read Last Night in Montreal and The Lola Quarter after Station Eleven and found them to be bordering on awful.

Shut up already

Or the scene where he forces the female employee to say if she's more attracted to Nathan or the other guy. Or the art installation of the Coke can shooting a kid with a bow and arrow…

The sound guy doing the prerecorded conversation was really in a hurry.

"Well I guess it's all set up, we kind of have to do it now…"
"With Corey on board, it was time to move forward"

Just renewed for season 4!

Serial the first ever podcast is back

I watched the U2 Paris concert on HBO the other night that featured Eagles of Death Metal at the end. It was very moving and affirming if you're a U2 tolerator. Or better yet, a fan.

Sorry beema. That is the absolute worst.
