Exactly the same on stage? What a ringing endorsement!

Oh yeah, I'm fine with all of it, just trying to puzzle it out.

I'm paying about that much to see David Mitchell in November. Sucks being a fan of popular people!

There's that, the fact that before this one most of his characters were upper middle-class white people with "first world problems," his thing with not wanting to be in Oprah's book club, the bird-watching obsession, etc.

I liked how Scott had to remind him at one point how a New No-No was actually constructed.

Oh nice, I just asked about this this morning.

On the commentary they explain that Chili's actually made them insert that, so that Pam's behavior wouldn't reflect poorly on Chili's." Thanks corporate douches!

Oh I love all their guests, don't get me wrong, just there's a difference between someone from the insular Hollywood sitcom-writing scene they usually traffic in and Aasif Mandvi, making his first appearance on an Earwolf show.

I liked season 1 a lot actually, but it was amazing watching this as the first episode of season 2. It was like they had flipped a magic switch, worked out every kink that needed to be fixed, and all of the characters were immediately perfectly calibrated. Amazing 22 minutes of TV.

So that may have been the best episode of Hollywood Handbook yet. Just the fact that they got a legitimately good guest making his Earwolf debut and basically ignored him in favor of a fake contract negotiation with Scott had me cracking up before it even got going.

Will there be a review of the new Franzen novel?

Yeah I feel the same way re: "Royals." "Ribs" is my jam.

I like Pure Heroine by Lorde. Also if Chvrches counts.

I never comment here because I never have anything interesting to say but this has quietly become one of my favorite shows this year. Just great stuff. I never thought I could buy Brett Gelman, the guy of "iBrain" as a serious actor but he's really fucking good. His storyline this episode was so awkward but in a sad

The trailer that ends with the shot that reveals the guy hiding under the bed is one of the best laughs I've had in a theater this year.

We can all laugh at this quaint bit of reactionary over-sensitivity now, but when we look back on 9/11 and its ripple effect on the state of the globe, the important thing to remember is that jet flame doesn't melt steel.

"Life goes on" was a dangerous opinion back then. 9/11 changed everything.

"Now this is surgery, so don't eat anything before you come in. Because I'll have a big breakfast waiting for you."

Missoula by Jon Krakauer may not have been comprehensive but it sure was engaging and appropriately horrifying. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to get super bummed.
