Good point about DFW journalist vs. Sedaris non-journalist. Two different POV's, for sure.
I'm one of the people who was disappointed by finding out about his stretching of the truth. This post isn't meant to sway opinions, but simply to state my case (a good friend has tried to change my mind about this, but I remain firmly entrenched.) Also, I should say that I think David Sedaris is pretty damn funny.
As a Harper's man, I laugh at your uninformed opinion.
Are you serious? It's really "white-bred"?
The long ash on the end of the cigarette in the tilt-a-whirl scene is perfect.
"Hey man, you done with that apple core?" is one of the funniest lines of movie dialogue ever.
Huzzah! He's one of the worst.
Good stuff.
I remember seeing an interview from the 70's where Kris Kristofferson laughed about people saying country music is dead.

"Grandma's Hairbrush Syndrome" is great. I'm sure GHS afflicts Boomers, but I'd wager that today's hipsters and soon-to-be hipsters have much higher rates.
I watched an interview with Ira Glass where he said he knows his strength is producing, not actually speaking on air. He should definitely play to his strengths…
Perfect descriptor! It is very comforting. Like you, I don't stop everything to listen, but it's nice to have on while cooking or cleaning or getting blackout drunk.
I have a love/hate with This American Life. Sometimes the reporting and the stories are phenomenally interesting and I don't want to get out of the car.
Charlie Pierce and Tom Bodett.
Agreed.
I've seen some APHC hate on here before, but I like the show. Even went to the Minnesota State Fair to see it a couple years back.
