I really liked The Awakening. A cool, creepy Gothic ghost story.

This is not really objecting to your point strictly about the original content, but I really don't get the Netflix backlash. Sure, it doesn't have the movie selection it had back when Hollywood thought streaming wasn't going to be a thing, but it has tons of recent indie, documentary, and foreign films that I've seen

My favorite is when the "Recommended for You" section has movies that's it pre-rated at one star.
