I still don't buy it. They showed the crossbow bolt hit Tywin. They showed Robb get stabbed repeatedly. They showed Renley get stabbed. They showed Catelyn get her throat slit. They showed Jon get stabbed repeatedly. They showed Oberyn get his frickin' skull crushed like a watermelon. They showed Viserys and Joffrey

Why not show it then? This is a series that doesn't shy away from violence. In fact, they often make a spectacle of it (i.e. Oberyn, Robb, Jon, Visarys, Tywin, Renley, and most of all — Joffrey). Apart from The Hound, who many people speculate is not dead, I can't think of a single major character besides Stannis

Well, that sounds a lot more interesting than the D&D direction. Although the books ramble and have some serious issues, I feel like Martin's direction is generally better than the D&D creative choices, which often feel lackluster. I didn't exactly like Dorne in the books (that 4th book was a chore IMO), but I'm not

So how will Jon come back? You know it's going to happen. Warg? Fire? Drogon? Melisandre? Thoros? I'm taking bets here.

Didn't you watch Season 1? Theon was great with his sword.

One thing that kinda bothers me about the whole "Dorne is pissed" storyline is that Elia's murder happened quite a long time ago and yet they seemingly waited until now to be outraged by it.

For real. I remember him being a big deal in the books. I saw him there in that scene and thought, "Oh, that guy. He's pretty badass. I wonder if he'll do some badass shit this season." That was about 2 nanoseconds before he got killed.

I'm not convinced that the Mannis is actually dead. I go by the "if there's no body then they're still alive" when it comes to TV shows like this one.

We still haven't seen Stannis's corpse yet and the way the Boltons talked about him as being dead reeked of misdirection to me. Maybe it's just my inner Stannis love coming out, but I half expect him to be revealed alive in the next episode as Brienne's captive. I'm hoping for a redemptive arc. Maybe he can find and

After hibernating from the AV club for the past 10 months or so, I must say that I'm glad to be back here with all you familiar avatars to discuss awesome TV and engage in witty banter once again this season.

I said it elsewhere, but I'm not really feeling the Sand Snakes. I think their whole vibe is laid on too heavy. Every scene with them is so blatantly, "OMG we're so badass, can you believe it?!?!" that it feels forced. Oberyn has been the only interesting Martell for me so far, and unfortunately he didn't last long.

The night is dark and full of saggy grandma boobs.

I think Welcome to the Jungle is pretty damn proper too.

Yea, I think Episode 3 would've been a lot cooler if it had been done as a David/Goliath story where Anakin rips through all of the Jedi and no one is left to fight him besides the overmatched Obi-Wan, who manages to defeat him in the final battle. That was the aspect of the story that appealed to me.

Yea, I remember that people in my theater loved it when Yoda threw down, but I personally hated it. I hated how cartoony and fake all the lightsaber battles were in the prequels.

Western is a setting. It's not a type of story. The plot is totally different from Django, albeit with a similar tone at points. They really don't have much in common besides horses, guns, and some racial tension.

"slightly"

Are you really surprised by comic violence in a Tarantino movie? Did you not see Django? It's not meant to be serious. You might as well complain about the lack of realism and poor taste in "Hobo With a Shotgun" because, from the middle of Hateful Eight onward, they're pretty similar in terms of tone.

I almost feel like he was just throwing Madsen a bone because, let's be real, the guy hasn't had a particularly strong career outside of Quentin's movies. He wasn't great in that role, but he didn't really hurt the movie either. He was just sort of there.

That's where the movie started to turn a corner for me. I thought the stagecoach stuff in the first half was pretty dull, but he went "full Quentin" after the intermission and that's when it really got good. That scene had me and a lot of the theater laughing.
