No one can tell you what you like, but that doesn't mean that your taste isn't shit. If you guys thought this was a great film then so be it. I think it was a pretty bad film with some good qualities that helped distract from some of its glaring flaws. I think the overwhelmingly favorable response that it received

A lot of people go into films with certain expectations based on who's involved with the project. Because The Master is a PTA film, some reviewers are automatically inclined to find merit in the project.

I used to be a big PTA fan too. I've seen all of his movies. I've probably seen Boogie Nights ten times. I used to watch that and Magnolia all the time when I was in college.

I agree. I am astonished by the praise for the movie. I thought it was quite bad. The story went nowhere. Contrary to what a lot of people will say, The Master was not intellectually or ideologically challenging in any way. The theme that it argues is not controversial. The plot isn't engaging. The shots are beautiful

I thought it was a bit of a disaster. Almost painful to watch. I still think Boogie Nights was PTA's best movie. He has been going downhill since then, IMO. I didn't care for There Will Be Blood and I thought The Master was even worse. I'm half convinced that the movie is a metaphor for PTA's career. He is like

I thought The Master was really bad. All style and no substance.

I think Moonraker was one of the more interesting Bond flicks. It's a shame that the camp factor and the really crappy special effects were so distracting, because the story and villain were pretty compelling.

They are more like big dogs, actually. Pretty harmless considering how big and scary they are. They aren't pure killers like cats or crocodiles. But yea, if you make yourself a convenient meal, they won't pass it up.
