I agree on the reasoning as to why they put that there, though I also thought to a degree it was to make Jamie look even better and more different from the men around him. I'm hoping it will prove to be the worst adaptation choice they make, and then they go on to make all better ones. Adaptation choices CAN be

This was pretty much my worst fears about the Dougal scene from last week confirmed, that they'd go the GoT route and then pretend afterwards that it never happened, so that the following plot and actions between characters would make less sense because they were still to a degree following the book.

I fully agree. Women having horrible things happen to them whether it's sexual or otherwise for the sake of allowing a main male character to wallow in manpain so the audience can go 'awwwwwwwww! poor baby' is NOT something I like.

True! I've been unusually pleased with the supporting actors in this cast. I can't think of any that I didn't like. It's not always appreciated but having smaller roles like that be very well acted gives the show depth.

Well, it looked great and I loved it.

Yes, I was one of them. I've been struggling to articulate even to myself why it bothered me so much, it wasn't even that I was rooting for the character not to be an asshole, it was somehow the way they made it seem thrown in there for shock value, or maybe gratuity is the right word. It felt cheap, and exploitative

She was indeed an attractive lady. And it was kind of cute how happy the guy looked to have her on his lap….though little she knew what he was like the rest of the time.

I like Dougal and Geillis and will be sorely disappointed if both turn out to be pitch-black villains and will consider it wasted narrative opportunity.

I don't know why it's such a thing for me, but apparently between this and a certain Game of Thrones adaptation choice, I get really pissed when people make male characters rapists or potential rapists when they aren't in the books. I don't care if they're evil murdering bastards six ways to sunday, being a rapist is

Yeah, I don't really like that decision. In general, I think I would dislike any adaptation that pushes characters away from where they are written toward a particular personality pole to make sure there are 'good' guys and 'bad' guys. I mean, you don't need to get into Game of Thrones level of gray gray gray but it

I'm starting to like both of Claire's 'shadows'. That upkilt shot and subsequent line delivery had me laughing way more than it should.

I agree on both counts. I loved the work by Dougal's actor tonight, it was awesome. I also love Geillis's actress, but tonight she wasn't well integrated into the story line, it felt like a cameo. However, I did like her line about only having her wits, do ye ken? I will be sad if Geillis goes super villain, I like

Hmmm. I kind of wish they had filmed it the book way instead. First, because it contradicts what they establish as Dougal's character in the first episode (he wasn't all chivalry and he let them make her feel uncomfortable, but he wasn't going to let them assault her), and secondly it feels kind of like a cheat to

I would go for a Captain Crusher series if it's Momma Crusher we're talking about here. I'm pretty sure she's one of the rare few destined to become a GILF.

Out of curiosity, what was it that didn't happen?

I'm confused. On the one hand, I didn't care much for the Jaimie oath plot, on the other hand, if that was primative golf, best game of golf ever.I actually really liked that part, and I may be the only one but I kind of like the slow pacing. I liked the death scene, it felt much more realistic to me than tv death

Exactly, I've been really surprised at the kind of backlash that seems to be occurring JUST because this series was written by a women, and features a woman protagonist that is not written specifically for men.

Even if you didn't, I have to admit, the kilts are quite a draw for me. I love the costuming.

They're also a crime family, so I assume their actions aren't typical of Castifans, and wouldn't be even if they weren't on a new planet.

Continuum seems like the opposite of this show, leaning on the strength of actors and story line over visual effects and budgets, while still being hard core sci-fi. Though, when the show does use CGI I think it looks fine. And I am constantly amazed that the guy who plays Alec doesn't get more praise for his acting.
