Are you Quentin Tarantino?
Are you Quentin Tarantino?
I really don't understand the title of this story. How can anyone be "nostalgic" for fucking Blockbuster Video?
I hated Blockbuster. Editing videos, high prices, crap selection. My local favorite was Aardvark Video, which as befits its name specialized in foreign, underground, and off-the-wall videos like Salo or precisely the sort of videos you wouldn't find at a shithole like Blockbuster.
Yeah, and there's no winking at the camera when Popeye Doyle does his racist asshole thing like Harry Callahan. The French Connection and Dirty Harry are both good movies, but one is a better action movie. They're both violent, but then I thought the name of this series was "A History of Violence" not "A History of…
You can't fool us with that "Anti-Monitor" nickname, Tom Breihan!
Sooo…I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess since the bulk of this essay exalts Dirty Harry and dismisses The French Connection in two graphs, there's really not much of a fight at all for the title of 1971's premier tough cop, right?
Me too, but that's cause I'm goofing off at work.
I was part of a film critic group when Proyas dropped Dark City on the world. I thought it was terrific, but as it turns out, it was also where Proyas peaked.
Budgets under $100 million will do that.
Isis?! Jihadist!
Yup. You don't sip wine or pound a brew to The Wild Bunch. You pour some hard whiskey in a semi-clean glass and you drink it down LIKE A MAN.
I agree totally. The Searchers has all the ingredients to be a classic, but it just doesn't get there for me.
I do too. Just not on this crappy show.
HE HAS THE MEATS!
I see what you did there. And I approve. This show eats it raw.
Add Wolfgang Van Halen on bass and we're gold!
Cheap Trick without Bun E. Carlos is like eating a burger without the bun.
No love Nathan, for the glorious Rosalind Cash, as the deprogrammer/torturer of Crazy K in the "Hard Core Convents" episode? For shame.
So does this mean Charlotte Rampling must now sit in Ving Rhames lap while he says "I HAVE THE MEATS!"
I've read Grayson. I know Grayson. Grayson was Robin and Nightwing. You, sir are no Grayson.
