That would work if Pan were a new take or reboot. But it was specifically meant to be an *origin story* of the Peter Pan we already know (i.e. the book/play and the Disney film). So you can't really change the depiction of Neverland.

Gilmore Girls remains one of the few shows with a truly unique, instantly recognizable voice and universe. But I would have liked it a lot more if they just slowed down a *little* and stopped cutting with every line of dialogue. Just stay with a simple two-shot and let your characters play off each other! I sometimes

Tiger Lily is the rare instance of white-washing that is perfectly fine.

So basically: 60% of white-washing is for Asians (didn't even include 21 or The Martian), 30% for Arabs in Bible-based films and 10% miscellaneous.

Preach it, Rockapella!

This is… this is a black day for AV Club.

I love stop-motion, but Laika has had diminishing returns with each feature. Their best film by far was Coraline, which also had the simplest story.

KFC is huge in Asia! Should've tried some extra crispy, Fieri!

While I don't think any of this particular year's "snubs" can be attributed to race — e.g. Idris Elba was in a Netflix production; Michael B. Jordan was in a 7th Rocky movie — it certainly has been a problem for ages, so it's great to see Hollywood do SOMETHING instead of the usual nothing.

You Can Count On Me is a must watch. Especially if you have siblings.

Huh. I've always hated this episode. The tone was just so off, especially compared to the similar but perfect Homer/Marge plot in "Grampa vs. Sexual Inadequacy."

I saw Something's Gotta Give on TV a couple years back, and it was pretty darn enjoyable. Too long for a rom-com, but any movie that puts Diane Keaton and Keanu Reeves together as a couple (if only temporarily) has my approval.

At the very least, I would have shown up sloppy drunk on Day 1 just out of spite. All the footage would be unusable and Fox would have to pay for another day of shooting. But I guess Anderson is more classy than that.

The "opposite" of this question could make another good Q&A:

One of the craziest things about old-time baseball is how little the athletes made. Even adjusted for inflation, top players made no more than your average doctor or lawyer today.

- I too would like to see Merkle's Boner.

I actually think the film would have been better if they fully embraced the low-tech angle and made it look like a iPhone video diary with minimal enhancements or non-diagetic music. The more "impressive" cinematic moments actually took me out of the moment. In fairness to Baker, I don't think he was trying to make

This random YouTube channel that regularly uploads compilations of TV commercials from the '70s, '80s and '90s:

I was completely hypnotized by Tropical Malady (Joe's best film by far), but Uncle Boonmee put me to sleep. In fact, I suspect that the Palme d'Or it received was more of an award for Apichatpong's voice in general.

George Bailey is the greatest character in film history.
