Well, I think that showing the three stooges is some good foreshadowing…these guys think that they're covering all the bases, but it's impossible.  Gus couldn't do it…and neither can they.

Sounds interesting - although it seems like good execution was an important component.  How annoying could Boston Legal get in its speechifying?  Answer, very annoying.

Funny, I was just thinking about this concept specifically when James Brown's "Living in America" popped up on my shuffle.  Not a terrific movie (of course), and James Brown has better songs (of course), but I was thinking of that sequence in the movie and how infectious James Brown's enthusiasm is and how much I want

Having watched that episode as a 7-year old, I was (maybe just in the back-of my mind) convinced for years that there really were "phone police" and I remember how great it was in the 1980's that you could buy your own telephone (instead of being required to lease it from MaBell) and not be subject to the jurisdiction

No, it's definitely increased recently both in terms of frequency and exaggerated comedic tone.  Maybe it's not official, but I've sensed a change…

Which brings up the question - what exactly is Sean O'Neal's role these days at the AV Club?  I feel like I'm only seeing him comment on the newswire and there's definitely a shift towards "comedic-styled commentary on the news" like he's applying for a writer's job on the Daily Show. Has he replaced Amelie Gillette

I love the fact that he clearly loves Breaking Bad like he's a normal fanboy.

Sounds like you watch a lot of Fox news.  I have no idea who most of those people are other than Huckabee or O'Reilly, whom I saw on the Daily Show.
