A very good episode. The laundromat/barbershop sketch was unexpectedly poignant and went beyond mere humor into something else altogether: a sense of the fragility and cruelty of time. The sketch where Key tries to make contact with his dad was pretty great, with a kicker of a punchline. On the other hand, the

I totally agree with this.

Remember George H.W. Bush's admonition that Americans should be 'more like the Waltons and less like the Simpsons'? I think that the#s the early-90s mentality you are talking of.

'Bart Sells His Soul' is definitely one of my favorites, too. It's near-perfect, with a wonderful B plot (Moe's family restaurant) and that hypnotic, creepy and beaitiful dream sequence. And written by the guy who would later create The Office and Parks and Rec (Greg Daniels).

'Christine Baranski has the most awesome laugh ever.' She also has the most awesome legs ever. Basically, Christine Baranski is just completely awesome.

You're right - 'trashy' is the wrong word to describe 28 Days. It is definitely a kind of guilty pleasure - a sitcom version of rehab, sweet and shallow in equal measures. But totally engaging. Has Alan Tudyk ever had a Random Roles? He totally should!

I wish you had asked about 28 Days, in which he plays Sandra Bullock's douchebag drunken British boyfriend. It's a silly, trashy movie, but he has a lot of fun in his role. Also, didn't he play Julia Roberts love interest in Mona Lisa Smiles? He's played small roles in quite a lot of high-profile but forgettable

Oh, and I'm pretty sure that vagina book was Naomi Wolfe's recent bestseller 'Vagina: An Autobiography.' Another example of how The Good Wife's desire to shoehorn in whatever is popular at the moment - books, high-profile court cases, technology - can often feel obtrusive or contrived.

I love this show as much as anyone, but this was not a strong episode, and nowhere near a B+. Stockard Channing is a fantastic actor, but I just don't buy her as Alicia's mom. Dallas Roberts (Alicia's brother, Owen) is terrific, too, but he had nothing to do here, except thanklessly move the plot forward with the
