I actually looked at the rooftop scene a bit differently…I thought the view wasn't all that great, which added to the weirdness of it.  I don't know…I've seen far better views of Manhattan.

The Tape Recorder scene was done perfectly.  Louie reacted exactly how any person would - afraid to say anything for fear of implying that that is extremely fucked up.  I love this show.

We skipped over EPMD.  It's not as revolutionary or as important as some of these other albums but I do think that era and group in particular (87, 88) is interesting because it sort of bridged the gap between the old and new schools.

I agree that the debut album is not their best but I believe it's album #2.  Midnight Marauders is extremely solid but noting beats Low End Theory, especially the one two punch of Excursions and Buggin' Out.

Exactly.  Although now that I think about it a bit more.  I'm almost equally annoyed that someone took a shitty iPhone video of it, sent it to the Daily Caller and they posted it because they knew it would cause controversy.

Yeah that sounds right.  I've actually come around to Colbert (who I always liked) more than Stewart which I never thought would be possible.

that sounds spot on.  marketers of shit like this are essentially trying to create any kind of "meme," through-line, or scene that will make someone remember and make it seem like more of an "event."  for some reason i can't think of any examples right now but i know there are others.
