Oh, i also caught Project Nim and A Dangerous Method.  The first was fantastic but the second kind of left me cold.  I found it pretty boring which something I never associate Cronenberg with.  Keira Knightley's performance and Russian accent were pretty embarrassing too.

I was at visiting home and for some reason the only movie my family has on DVD is The (new) Manchurian Candidate.

I wouldn't exacty say I was surprised that Battle: Los Angeles was a hit.  All you really have to do these days is put some media dollars behind an ad campaign and come up with a market-tested title that implies 1) a city may be decimated and 2) that sequels are on the way (you're next, seattle!)

Gotta go with Scott here in that I'd rather see the filmmaker try to creatively explore the book's themes and make their own personal vision.

a strange looking fellow.

Nah, my dad brought me.  Like I said, it was probably questionable.  Also, I just checked the release date…I was actually six.  Oops!

Hmm, despite that you didn't mention any of this in the interview, I'm pretty sure if Mike Mills comes across this article, he'll still be creeped out.  Just kidding, great first entry…looking forward to reading the rest.

This is the first R-rated movie I saw in a theater.  (Which in retrospect was probably inappropriate since I was like 7.)

this guy is obviously awful but not just for the reasons that you have listed above, steve.

I would be interested to read a review of this movie by someone at the AV Club who hasn't read the book and has very little knowledge of what it's even about.  (If that type of person exists.)

Yikes.  I still love this show and it would take a lot to change that but I'm a bit shocked by how many people seemed to like the scene with Quarles and the teenager in the trailer.

Russell Crowe is the Mitt Romney of film i.e. the negative utilitarian choice.  He inspires neither love nor hate and continues to get work because…well, people aren't going to not go if he's in a movie.

1) The "rape argument" is officially the new Godwin's Law.
2) Wow, thanks everyone for almost making me side with Michael Bay.

Wait…Clinton talked to white and black people differently?  I never knew that was like and accepted truth but the interviewer makes it sound like it is here and now I'm curious.  Someone should create a YouTube mash-up.

i mean, if we're going to play this game we may as well also namedrop Curb Your Enthusiasm and acknowledge the influence that it had on both this and Louie.

"you'll never guess who i ran into today…lisa"  "that's hilarious."

apparently this is a thing that happens…have you heard the louis ck bit about punching ponies in the face on "chewed up?"  it's hilarious.

this one really hits home for me.  i take personal offence.

I agree.  I've watched about a season and half and couldn't stick with
it.  I thought it was okay.  The main problem for me was that anything
that happens outside of the office is FAR less interesting than what's
going on inside the office.  For example, I was nearly bored to tears by
Don Draper's relationship with

Not really a "bad date story" but my gf doesn't like Breaking Bad.  I know it's not really a valid thing to care about but WHAT THE HELL, what wrong with you!?
