Yeah, I thought that was ridiculous.  It was pretty clear he was jumping off that bridge to commit suicide, his spine didn't need to explicitly break for me to understand that.

I've been finally watching TOS and I must say, you don't need to rebrand Star Trek in order to have Kirk's shirt torn open.  It happened in -at least- every other episode.

I feel like in some ways, this is just basically saying you'd rather see it die than have mass appeal.

I wouldn't call myself a diehard Trek fan, but I do LOVE Star Trek, and for me that includes the new movie, and may include the upcoming one.

Doesn't Kirk wear something similar in the previous movie when he sneaks on to the Enterprise?  I think the black shirt is just the undershirt of the uniform.

I really really hope the whole Khan thing turns out to be misdirection.  We got an alternate universe so that they could tell stories without the weight of the entire Star Trek canon, only to recycle a story?  Boooo.

I appear to be the only one assuming a rebooted Yeoman Rand, but now that I think about it the uniform is the wrong colour.
