Coates wrote Bendis and Brevoort a letter after the editorial retreat they go on every year to plan things out. Coates approached them with his concerns about killing off a black character, and Rhodey in particular, as well as (it sounds like) his issues with how Black Panther would be involved in the story…and they

The rule has long been "everybody but Uncle Ben comes back", but I honestly can't think of the last time a black character did, especially a "sidekick" who has been mismanaged and forgotten in recent years. Brevoort himself said that Rhodey was gonna stay dead and I trust that man about as far as I can drop kick him,

Well, the black guy dies to motivate the best friend white guy and the white girl he's been dating (Without any mention of it) for like two years apparently. Oh and also he's gonna stay dead because Brevoort that's why. That's what passes muster.

"Lame" doesn't even begin to cut it when Ta-Nehisi Coates tells you to not do something racist and you and Brevoort decide to do it anyway.

I totally backed it, it looks so great! And (running my own Kickstarter right now) I offer you total commiseration about nerves/worries. Good luck!

It's a lot like how people just "forget" that Clint is deaf. I saw a panel (can't remember what book) where he said he was going to go "put his fingers in his ears" and I was like…or just take your hearing aids out? That's the biggest issue with having so many interconnected story lines and having writers/publishers

I'm really sorry if you got the impression that I think people who like Carol are fake fans, because that's not even remotely what I believe. I'll own it if that's how I come off, though. There's no such thing as a fake fan. There are plenty of people who I disagree with and vice versa, but we're all fans.

I don't like the character and I don't think that's a thing I should hide. I haven't liked the character since she became Captain Marvel, I liked her a lot better as Miss Marvel because she had interesting and compelling flaws. Now she's nigh unto invincible (by her own claims, but not by any actual proof) and her

Tony's got a can of soda, though.

She's holding a glass of champagne in one of the Civil War II issues, while Tony standing next to her very conspicuously has a can of soda. Tony and Carol haven't had any sponsor/sponsee meetings since she became Captain Marvel, that I know of, and her alcoholism hasn't even been mentioned.

A lot of it feels really forced. The audience she enjoyed was in large part driven by KSD, who has gone on to other projects and taking some of that fanbase with her. I said it over a year ago and I honestly am worried about just how right it looks like I am, but Marvel learned ALL the wrong lessons from the

Captain Marvel ranked #74 in May with 24k copies sold. Ms Marvel was at 59 with 30k copies sold, but both of those numbers are based on Diamond's sales and wouldn't include Comixology or other digital sales/subscriptions. Ms Marvel pretty consistently outsells Captain Marvel, at least for the past few months, but not

If I remember correctly, it was because the transition from (panel with gun to Selina's head with unknown hand holding it) to the panel you're speaking about was interrupted by a flashback. Bringing people back into the "present" with descriptor box isn't totally unwarranted there.

You all haven't been subjected to NEARLY as many puns and terrible jokes as I'd like. 500 words simply isn't enough space.

Personally I loved Valentine's run on Catwoman. Very character driven, very focused on Selina as a person. The art at the beginning was rough, but improved drastically when they got a new artist, and having read this I wish they'd just ended it where Valentine left it on issue #46.

I'm not sorry.

For the record, I was specifically referring to Isaiah Bradley, though Adam Farrar below did tag almost all the others. America Chavez and Danielle Cage have both also been some version of Cap in the recent past.

Man, I wish I knew the answer to this question.

Edmonson is also blacklisted at a couple publishers. There's a lot of sexual harassment accusations that have been disappeared by leadership at Marvel.
