"Hi, we bilked you for exorbitant ticket prices for our 'farewell' shows six years ago, now please respect our wishes and not do anything that could prevent us from optimally monetizing our 'comeback' material. Have you been to my wine bar?"

"This jadedness apparently came through on Slayer’s 1998 album Diabolus In Musica,
which King says he basically checked out of during recording. That
album predates “Nookie,” but it sill saw Slayer attempting to reach Limp
Bizkit’s nu-metal fanbase."
This is astoundingly half-assed. From now on, every "HateSong" should follow this "call a musician up out of the blue and force them to try to put a coherent interview together without a single minute to think the premise through" approach. This reads like a particularly inarticulate conversation about the selections…
Oh shit, man.
Surprised to see the approval of this format. I've done enough entertainment reporting to know that an article like this is the result of someone blowhard intellectual who thinks his brilliance can only be captured in the prose of an unchecked e-mail, not an actual interview where his ridiculous opinions can be…
Mac didn't play Sting—he played "Cocaine" and jokingly said "that was a Sting song."
Still not as bad as "Smokes a pack a day/Oh wait, that's me, but anyway"
"Meet Me Halfway" has some pretty nice melodies buried in Fergie's awful vocals and the typical BEP production. I was grateful when the Futureheads salvaged it: http://www.youtube.com/watc…
"Drugs."
"alongside a cover of Talking Heads’ “Memories Can’t Wait” that outshines the original by a factor of five"

The steadfast refusal to discuss rock songs is getting ridiculous. "The Reason" was huge and is ripe fodder for his style of writing, but instead every dime-store R&B hit I don't even remember existing gets a segment, then he says "Oh yeah a few bands with guitars had some songs too SEE YOU NEXT WEEK."
I don't trust anyone who doesn't like "Hey Ya!"
You forgot
