To be fair, if they used this method to elect a new Pope, I'm pretty sure the new Pope would be Stan Lee.

What, Glenn Fleshler isn't a big enough name/face for you to include him on your potential suspect list with Kostroff and Misner? Remus knows Remus was killed off earlier than Remus would have liked, but Remus still would have appreciated a mention, McNutt.
I don't know how easy or quick it would be for a cop to make a background check, but it doesn't seem too far-fetched to me that Scott would phone her station inquiring about the witnesses and any potential priors before clearing them or letting them go. It would still smack a bit of profiling, but not quite as…
Speaking of outfits (I defer to Mr. Valachovic below as far as your original statement goes), Phil Pritchard's set picture of Lucy Liu chilling barefoot with the Stanley cup speaks to one of my pet peeves about Joan's style. I wish the show would get over its fears about the height disparity (I assume this is the main…
And Pokemon.
I upvoted this, but when I realised you'd confused a prog rock band with a non-prog rock band, it brought me down. Yes yes yes yes yes. Oo woo hoo.
"one of the"
It's not a laugh track if the show is filmed with a live studio audience. The relevant topic of discussion in this case would be whether or not Chuck Lorre shows tends to emphasise the audience to much in the sound mix, making the laughter obtrusive.
The rest of you can pack it in; the thread has been won.
It's really called the "Workers Youth League" in the translation? I can't decide if that's awesome or awful. The Norwegian name is anachronistic, but that literal English translation makes it sound even more like something coined by a bunch of communist activists in the 1920s (which, to be fair, it was).
From my own experiences with trying to figure this stuff out, the most important thing, trite though it might be, is not to give up. Keep looking, keep trying, and don't be afraid to ask for help.
Aw, seeing the phrase "energy drink" mentioned in relation to zombies makes me all wistful.
Have you read Rage yet? If not, it should definitely be on your list. Possibly his best.
Yep, that sounds familiar. My sympathies, and I hope you get to the other side soon.
Thanks for the quote! I do hope you're right, but it still reads foreboding as all get out to me. Beautiful writing, either way.
Thank you for the compliment, it means a lot! And thank you for writing about those shows over on the Weekend Pop threads; I hadn't heard word one of Cucumber/Banana until that, and discovering them while reading along to your thoughts was a special treat.
Sorry, I can't seem to find the episode (around #12 perhaps?), and not knowing the exact phrasing makes it a devil to google. Also, Oliver doesn't seem to have remarked on the foreshadowing in his reviews, which does make me wonder whether I might have misread the phrase and/or blown its ominousness out of proportion.
You know what could also be described as "illustrious"? Fireworks. Flares. The lights of a bus suddenly entering from one end of the frame, on its way to run over a beloved character! (sorry, couldn't help myself).
Cucumber might be the ultimate litmus test for whether or not you're equipped to watch a show with an unlikeable protagonist. It is a feature, not a bug, though, which I think is important to stress. It's hard going a lot of the time, but at no point does the show expect you to root for his shitty behaviour. The…
