Actually, the character never wore a deerstalker hat in the books.

Bravo, sir.

I'll allow it.

Yeah. A lot of Remarque's best stuff was written (and set) between the wars or post-WW2, but I do think he was very tied to those wars in the public consciousness. As his contemporary readers aged and passed away, his reputation was reduced to that association. He became "just" a writer about war. Try to track down Arc

That's really interesting. One of my favourite writers (Erich Maria Remarque) is one of those once hugely popular authors who nobody seems to be reading (or at least talking about) anymore, but on the other hand, there are plenty once-stars who deserve their fall out of critical and popular favour.

Yeah, I stopped watching a couple of episodes into the fifth season. Not in disgust that it had suddenly gotten bad or anything, more that I'd had my fill. It was a very enjoyable show when it was on, and in that late first season, second/third season period when it was at its best, I think it made me laugh out loud

My sole association for Masada is Preacher. I'm sure Garth Ennis is real happy about that.

The number of comments isn't instilling me with great confidence on behalf of regular Finding Carter coverage, but I'll still leave a comment here to offer my heartfelt support for Mr. Alston (neck-and-neck with Sava as my favourite TV Club writer at the moment) to do this on a weekly basis.

Man, that's an amazing idea! I know he's a bit of a one-trick pony, but surely, someone clever should be able to tailor a studio game show to his schtick.

Wait, Eddie Murphy was going to do a CG remake of Boomerang?!

After guessing Reese Witherspoon on the Julia Roberts FJ last week, any illusions I had about my own trivia intelligence are well and truly blown, so this doesn't carry any weight, but I don't think I've ever heard the name Pearl Buck before seeing it here. Is she taught widely in US schools?

Oh? I thought he was just setting him up to talk about his state capitals travelling project. Not that Trebek deserves any defending after that conversation pause.

"Fuckin' all of 'em, except the bands I like an' all."

I don't see the point of him going out of his way to mention something that happens in every movie.

A chameleon having a successful acting career while also passing as a human woman is pretty dang impressive.

Out in the street, they call it Muuuurti…

I'm not gonna lie, I've been crushing pretty hard on Rahm the last couple of seasons. One of the characters that have weathered the decade transition best, wardrobe wise.

From the general feel of the interview, it's not too much of a stretch to imagine that he said that in a ironic, self-deprecating tone.

I know they're just depicting a couple of bros hanging out being normal, but there's just something about the shots chosen that makes it look like Hamm and Moss are doing a bit.

Go to the top of this page, click the button that says "What's On Tonight" next to the TV Club logo, bookmark the page, and you don't have to worry about finding WOT on the frontpage ever again. If that is a thing you do, I don't know. I worry about a lot of stuff.
